A three-storey building on the corner of Libya and Mosque streets has been gutted by fire.
The downtown building, home to Consolidated Investments Limited and several other shops, reportedly started around the noon-hour Tuesday and quickly spread throughout the structure.
Private security fire crews, the airport fire crew and city fire department all responded to the blaze.
Eye-witnesses bemoaned the fact that some fire crews went around demanding money before dousing the flames in the NHC owned structure.
No report on injuries or cause of the blaze have been confirmed.
