For the next few nights, a set of Spanish strings will be making you smile so that others can also smile.
The Dar Smile Music Festival, which kicked off Wednesday night and features six professional musicians from the School of Music Katarina Gurska in Spain, is raising money to purchase a mobile dental clinic.
The mobile clinic bus would travel to rural locations in Tanzania to bring basic dental care to the people, where no dental facilities would otherwise exist.
“The fully equipped mobile dental clinic will provide access to restorative and preventative care,” explains the One World One Smile foundation, which would operate the bus.
Bringing dental care — often seen as the neglected sibling in health care — would solve many preventable health problems and even deaths in Tanzania, says the foundation.
The cost of the bus is estimated to be $120,000 USD — and they want to raise it from just four concerts.
