Former US President Bill Clinton will visit Tanzania next week to highlight some of the things the Clinton Foundation has been working on in the country.
Clinton, who last visited Tanzania in 2013, will be accompanied by his daughter, Chelsea, who also works at the Clinton Foundation.
The April 28 – 30 visit is expected to raise awareness to “economic growth and empowerment, climate change, empowering women and girls and global health and conservation,” says a press release.
Clinton, 68, will visit the Anchor Farm Project, which is operated by the Clinton Development Initiative and implements improved seeds, fertilizer, and liming, a spraying procedure that increases soil pH and fertility.
The farm partners with thousands of smallholder farmers to give them access to quality seeds, training and improved market reach.
According to the press release, members of the Clinton Global Initiative have made pledges valued at over $35 billion USD, with the majority earmarked to address global health and empowering women and girls.
To that end, the entourage will also visit Solar Sisters, which helps women across East Africa become entrepreneurs by selling solar lights and environmentally friendly cook stoves.
They will also visit a Clinton Health Access Initiative assisted dispensary, which helps the government procure a stable and safe supply pneumonia and rotavirus vaccines.
After Tanzania, Clinton will visit Kenya, Liberia and Morocco.
