Rain floods streets, snarls traffic

If you’re driving anywhere this afternoon, brace yourself for a long ride.

Morogoro road remains closed due to flooding at Jangwani and several other bridges around town are at risk of being closed as well as rainfall continues.

The Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA) yesterday warned of 50mm of rainfall over a 24 hour period due to a deepening low pressure system in the Indian Ocean.

For Friday, May 8, the TMA cautions that periodic heavy rains are expected along with strong winds and large waves along coastal areas.

Further rain is expected over the next weeks and the rainy season is expected to draw to a close at the end of May.
