The hoax message claims 123.7 km/h winds will hit the coastal region Saturday.
The oddly specific wind speed should have been the first clue: it’s a hoax folks.
A hoax notice claiming to be from the Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA) has been circulating on social media, claiming that a storm with 123.7 km/h winds will strike the greater Dar es Salaam coastal region and Zanzibar on August 29.
“This information is not true … Stop giving and supplying misleading information on social networks,” says the TMA in a press release, which uses it’s website and official social media outlets to share alerts.
The weather on Saturday is expected to be a mix of sun and cloud with a chance of light rain.
