As energy prices drop worldwide, the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) has followed suit.

“Retail prices for petrol and diesel have decreased by 55 TSH per litre or 2.91 percent, and by 147 TSH per litre or 8.40 percent respectively,” says EWURA director general Felix Ngamlagosi.

That puts the price of petrol at 1,842 TSH per litre and diesel at 1,600 TSH per litre.

“To a large extent the continued drop of petroleum product prices in the local market are being caused by the decrease of prices of petroleum products in the world market,” says Ngamlagosi.

Ngamlagosi says freight and premium charges have also decreased.

The price of kerosene, 1,699 TSH per litre,  has not changed.
