Gallery: Kigamboni Bridge opens

After nearly five years of construction, the Kigamboni bridge is finally open.

While the bridge is open, workers are still finishing the final stages of construction — painting lane markers and putting the final touches on the toll booths — on the 680 meter long cable suspension bridge.

Hundreds of pedestrians were seen crossing the bridge, which connects Dar to Kigamboni over Kurasini creek, despite storm clouds looming overhead.

President John Magufuli is expected to officially unveil the bridge at a ceremony on Tuesday, April 19.
