The heavy rainfall advisory for Dar es Salaam has been upgraded to a warning.

Heavy rainfall exceeding 50mm in 24 hours is expected, says the Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA.)

The advisory has been upgraded to a warning due to continued rainfall coinciding with the rapid development of tropical cyclone Fantala in the Indian Ocean.

The TMA warning is in effect until Saturday, April 16 and is also valid for Tanga, Pwani, Morogoro, Unguja and Pemba.
