A wind and wave warning has been issued by the Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA.)

Strong winds exceeding 40 kilometers per hour and waves higher than 2 meters are expected in coastal regions, including Dar es Salaam.

The warning is in effect from Sunday, June 12, to Tuesday, June 14.

“Sea users and residents of the mentioned areas are advised to take necessary precautions,” says the TMA in an alert issued on Saturday, June 11.

The weather pattern is due to an enhanced southerly wind flow associated with intensification of a high pressure system along the East Africa coastline.
