You have just over two months to prepare yourself for the Rotary Dar Marathon, which takes place on Nyerere Day, October 14.

“It’s our most ambitious project yet,” says Agnes Batengas, chairperson of the marathon.

“Our fundraising goal this year is to collect one billion Tanzanian shillings,” says Batengas.

Batengas says the money is earmarked for the construction of a new hospital.

There will be five different events: a 21.1km half marathon, a 21.1km cycle half marathon, a 9km walk, a 5km walk and a 1km race for special needs children.

“The Dar marathon is for each and every person.”

This year, Batengas says 15,000 participants are expected.

Registration will be available at the Rotary Dar Marathon website with a minimum pledge of 30,000 TSH.
