The public holiday of Eid al-Adha has been set for Monday, September 12, the National Muslim Council of Tanzania (BAKWATA) has confirmed.

Eid dates are confirmed by moon sighting.

The council’s chief mufti, Abubakar Zubeir bin Ally, says he wishes everyone a good Eid al-Adha.

Eid-al-Adha, which literally means festival of the sacrifice, is a commemoration of the day when Abraham was sent to sacrifice his son.
