One of Air Tanzania’s new planes has landed in Dar, but some journalists hoping to get a first look were reportedly rebuffed by airport officials.

The 76-seat Bombardier Q400 turboprop was given a water-cannon salute on arrival today, September 20.

But according to reports on social media, some journalists who arrived at the airport to witness the event were not granted entry.

A second plane, also a Q400 turboprop, is expected to arrive within a week.

The planes are valued at $62 million USD (135 billion TSH.)

There will be an official launch of both aircraft at a later date.
