Fastjet customers have been facing delays and cancellations in recent days as the airline makes changes to its fleet.
A notice on the airlines’ website states that delays and cancellations will continue until October 4, but does not give a reason or say which flights will be affected.
But last month the airline announced that the leases on three of their aircraft would be expiring at the end of September.
“By the end of the year, our existing fleet of five A319 aircraft will be reduced to three and will be replaced by three smaller leased aircraft,” says the airline’s new chief executive officer Nico Bezuidenhout.
The first leased aircraft, was expected to come into service by the end of September.
The airline’s losses deepened to 15 million dollars in the first half of 2016 in what was a ‘very difficult and challenging time,’ says Bezuidenhout.
Fastjet has not responded to Dar Post’s request for more precise details on which flights would be delayed or cancelled.
