There are just two days left before the Rotary Dar Marathon, which takes place on Nyerere Day, October 14.

“It’s our most ambitious project yet,” says Agnes Batengas, chairperson of the marathon.

“Our fundraising goal this year is to collect one billion Tanzanian shillings,” says Batengas.

Batengas says the money is earmarked for the construction of a new hospital.

There will be five different events: a 21.1km half marathon, a 21.1km cycle half marathon, a 9km walk, a 5km walk and a 1km race for special needs children.

Tanzania’s Alphonce Felix Simbu, who recently finished fifth at the Rio Olympics, will be among the runners.

You can still register on the Rotary Dar Marathon website with a minimum pledge of 30,000 TSH.
