Independence Day and the Muslim holiday of Maulid fall on a Friday and a Monday respectively this year.

And that gives us an extra long weekend.

Independence Day falls on Friday, December 9, and Maulid — the birthday of the prophet Mohammed — will be on Monday, December 12, says Suleiman Lolila, the secretary general of the National Muslim Council of Tanzania.
