Over 100 people gathered at the Dar es Salaam War Cemetery on Sunday morning to remember those who died fighting for both Britain and Germany.

The multi-faith Remembrance Day ceremony was hosted by both the British High Commission and the German Embassy.

Sarah Cooke, the British High Commissioner to Tanzania, described the ceremony as ‘very moving.’

There are 10 Commonwealth War Graves cemeteries across Tanzania, three of which are in Dar.

A new memorial was also unveiled Friday, November 11,  in Tanga, commemorating over 300 Indian soldiers who died alongside British troops.
