Fuel prices have dropped for the month of May, says the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA.)
“Retail prices of petrol, diesel and kerosene have decreased by 31 TSH per litre (equivalent to 1.48 percent), 80 TSH/litre (equivalent to 4.18 percent) and 16 TSH/ litre (equivalent to 0.88 percent) respectively,” says EWURA director general Felix Ngamlagosi.
The drop in prices at the pump are caused largely by decreases in world oil market prices.
‘A slight appreciation of the Tanzania shilling against the US dollar, the currency used to procure petroleum products,’ has also helped lower fuel costs, says Ngamlagosi.
