Innovation Week all about new connections

Next week is Innovation Week and even if you’re not a tech guru, there are ways for you to get involved.

“This year more than ever we are striving to reach out to people and organizations willing to take ownership of the conversation and create new connections across the Tanzania innovation ecosystem,” said David B. McGinty, team leader at Human Development Innovation Fund (HDIF.)

“Innovation week links Tanzanian researchers, technology experts, entrepreneurs, creatives, development professionals, and policy makers under one roof where important and necessary partnerships are born,” says Hassan Mshinda, the director general of COSTECH.

This year’s theme centres on five components including development, research, entrepreneurship, design, and technology.

Participants will get the chance to be involved in creative storytelling workshops for development, co-create an episode on innovation with Ubungo Kids, listen to promising university student led startups, explore research driven innovations by the Ifakara Health Institute, and get an insight into development partner’s donor funded approaches including the ‘Principles for Digital Development’.

Can’t break away from work during the week? There will be a pecha kucha event Thursday evening as well as a photo walk on Saturday.
