Medical evacuation found for Karatu crash kids

Samaritan’s Purse will reportedly fly the three children who survived a grizzly crash that killed 35 to the US for treatment.

The hospital is ready, the surgeons are prepared — even accommodation has been found for family of the Karatu bus crash survivors — the only thing missing has been the medical evacuation plane.

But Samaritan’s Purse has stepped up and is expected to fly the three survivors to the United States on Sunday, May 14, says Steve Meyer.

Meyer, a surgeon who says ‘inconceivable providence‘ brought him and a team of medics to the scene of the grizzly crash while on safari, spoke personally with Franklin Graham, the president of Samaritan’s Purse, about the matter.

Samaritan’s Purse has a vintage 1969 cargo jet that has been retrofitted as a field hospital.

“[There has been] overwhelming openness and warmth and love for three kids that witnessed something no one should be part of. So, we are so excited and blessed that the government decided to put children ahead of politics,” says Meyer, speaking to KTIV News.

The three children, who remain in critical but stable condition, will be treated at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa, which has agreed to support their stay; it is expected to cost up to $250,000 USD (560 million TSH), and surgeons have offered to perform the necessary procedures free of charge.

This is where you’ll be able to help: Meyer says a Go Fund Me campaign is being set up and should be active by the weekend.
