Football mania has hit Dar ahead of a pre-season friendly match between English Premier League team Everton and Kenya’s Gor Mahia.
Thousands of fans have streamed into Dar for the match which takes place at the 60,000 seat national stadium on Thursday, July 13.
The team jumped straight into action, with some players visiting Uhuru Mchanganyiko Primary School, which has a unit for children with disabilities, where they learned how to play goalball – a version of football for the blind.

Other players took some time to train with Albino United.

And where was Wayne Rooney? He was meeting with a fan, Vice President Samia Suluhu.

But the highlight of the day took place online: when the Daily Mail described Dar as a ‘fishing village’ people took to Twitter to defend their city.
