A series of explosions gutted the office of a prominent law firm early Saturday morning.
At 02:00 Saturday, August 26, a series of three loud explosions took place at Immma House, the office of Immma Advocates, on United Nations Road in Upanga.
Witnesses described seeing what appeared to be a pipe bomb visible at the scene, however police have not confirmed the cause of the explosions.
Immma Advocates lists various telecoms and energy companies, banks and the Government of Tanzania as those among its clients.
An un-verified statement by the Tanganyika Law Society circulated on Whatsapp condemned the ‘heinous crime.’
“The bombing attack must be taken for what it really is: an attack on the freedom and independence of the lawyers and the legal profession,” says the statement.
According to the Citizen, one of Immma’s lawyers says nothing was stolen from the scene.
Police say no suspects have been arrested.
