Tanesco says they plan to implement a new computerized Luku system by mid-2016.

The new system is expected to allow customers to top up their electricity in seconds and is more stable than the current system, says Tanesco public relations manager Adrian Severin.

The time-saving system is expected to be in place in May, 2016.

Severin says sales agents need to ensure their systems are up-to-date and in order to make sure the system will run properly — even before the new system is rolled out.

Too many customers are currently being inconvenienced by outdated devices failing to connect to the network, he says.

“Agent’s devices need to link with the Tanesco system properly. If one gadget experiences a network failure, it’s unlikely for a customer to access the services and be able to top up,” says Severin.
