An American missionary is among those missing after a boating accident in the Indian Ocean last week.

According to Open Door Enterprises, their missionary Kenneth JR Danforth was in a boat with five other people that capsized in bad weather on the way to Mafia Island on May 3.

All passengers are reported to have been wearing life jackets.

The captain of the boat managed to swim to an island, says Danforth’s mother, according to CBN News.

Rescue efforts involving a plane and helicopter were hampered by bad weather.
