A power outage in Dar es Salaam over the weekend was not politically motivated, says utility provider TANESCO.
“The power outage was not deliberate or intended to subvert political parties,” says TANESCO in a press release.
Workers at a church in Ubongo – Chai Bora caused the outage when their crane touched and shorted a 132 kilovolt transmission line on Saturday afternoon.
Coincidentally, opposition coalition UKAWA was holding a rally in Jangwani at the same time the incident occurred.
TANESCO says they have opened a police report against the church.
