On his last full day in office, outgoing president Jakaya Kikwete has declared Thursday, November 5, a public holiday.

A statement issued by the State House says Kikwete made the decision to allow Tanzanians the opportunity to participate in the swearing-in celebrations for president elect John Magufuli.

The swearing-in ceremony for Magufuli is to get underway at 08:00 at the national stadium.
