Thousands of people went for a Saturday morning walk in order to raise funds for victims of the Kagera earthquake.
Hundreds of millions of shillings are expected to be raised and pledged through the five kilometer walk, arranged my the ministry of foreign affairs and the Prime Minister’s office.
Leading the walk was former President Ali Hassan Mwinyi.
The Kagera earthquake killed 20 people, injured hundreds and displaced thousands.
The Red Cross says people are traumatized and there is an urgent need for medical supplies.
