New details have emerged regarding the crash of a small plane at the Sasakwa airstrip just outside Serengeti National Park on January 2.

The Air Excel flight carrying five passengers and two pilots crashed ‘immediately after takeoff’ , says Singita Serengeti spokesperson Graham Ledger.

The Sasakwa Airstrip serves the exclusive lodges in the Singita Grumeti Reserve.

Ledger says they have confirmed the five passengers survived the crash without serious injuries, however the two pilots sustained ‘multiple injuries.’

AMREF Flying Doctors says they received multiple victims from the crash in ‘critical condition.’
